Nació en Santiago de Chile en 1971.
Cuando tenía dos años su familia se trasladó a La Habana, donde vivió hasta 1990. Desde entonces ha vivido en España, Inglaterra, Chile y los últimos siete años en Francia. Estudió cine en Londres en el LCPDT (London College of Printing and Distributive Trades, film and video degree 1993 -96) y en Les Ateliers Varan de París (2002). Desde 1996 trabaja como asistente de dirección y en la producción de películas de ficción y documental. El telón de azúcar es su primera película.
Born in Santiago de Chile in 1971, but at the age of two, her family moved to Havana, where she grew up. She left Cuba in 1990 and since then, has lived in Spain, England, Chile and for the last seven years, in France. Guzmán Urzúa studied film at Les Ateliers Varan in Paris and at the London College of Printing (LCPDT) where she earned a film and video degree in 1996. Since 1996 she has worked as an assistant director and produced documentary and fiiction films. The Sugar Curtain is her first film.
